Invisalign v.s. Traditional Braces

While many people have improved their smiles with traditional metal braces, Invisalign has become an appealing alternative for many reasons. If you have misaligned, crowded, gapped, or crooked teeth, then Dr. Richard Romay and Dr. Martha Barrera at Design A Smile in Miami, FL can help you determine if Invisalign is the best option to give you the smile you’ve always wanted. Teeth straightening doesn't have to happen with metal braces anymore.

Invisalign Benefits

Invisalign works in much the same way that traditional braces do, but with less time spent visiting your orthodontist, no “metal mouth” and the ability to straighten your teeth with a set of specially designed, clear retainers that are switched out over time as your teeth move into a more aesthetically appealing placement in your jaw.

When you wear Invisalign retainers, they’re almost unnoticeable to other people. For Invisalign to work properly, you need to wear them most of the day and through the night, but they’re removable when you eat, drink, brush, or floss. You also don’t need to visit your orthodontist to have your braces “tightened.”

You do need to occasionally check in with your dentist to make sure your Invisalign retainers are working properly, but your treatment plan allows you to move from one retainer to another without excessive appointments.

Invisalign is ideal for busy people and those who don’t want to wear metal braces while beautifying their smiles. Clear aligners are much more convenient when you need to brush and floss, too.

Invisalign was created to help with many dental issues, just like braces, including:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Underbite
  • Overbite
  • Crossbite
  • Gaps in your smile
